Each year, between Christmas and New Years Eve, we discard our hats, waistcoats and sticks and perform as “Lordsmere Longsword”. Once a side unto itself made of Saddleworth men, this North-East traditional dance has now been made a part of the repertoire of Saddleworth Morris Men. However, you will be lucky to see it anytime other than in December.
Usually falling on the Saturday after Christmas, the tour comprises a few pubs of the shire, with all dancing done inside away from the cold. This has caused problems with Christmas Decorations in the past!
